Potomac Library

Signature Club Project

IMG_4779 2.jpeg

We lovingly care for all of the Library plantings

  • Over the years, our club has planted many of the beautiful trees, shrubs, and native perennials on the Library property

  • We weed, trim, and water all plantings

  • We plant annuals to diversify the property and increase seasonal interest

  • We regularly add new plants to existing beds

We maintain All "Theme" Beds

In addition to maintaining the general grounds and landscaping of the Potomac Library, our club has added and maintains many “Theme” beds on the Library property. These beds include:

  • SUNDIAL GARDEN

We change the plantings of this small garden seasonally

  • FALLS ROAD NATIVE GARDEN

A large area of the Library grounds (formerly turf) has been converted to a native plant garden.

Many thanks to The Glenstone Museum for their donation of the plants and for working with us on the installation

  • FALLS ROAD UNDERSTORY GARDEN

A large shaded area under a grove of trees has been reclaimed and replanted with ferns and other understory plants donated by members

  • BUTTERFLY GARDEN

This perennial bed in the library parking lot was designed to attract pollinators

  • PETER RABBIT HERB GARDEN

This garden is used to enhance the Outdoor Classroom Program

  • LIBRARY GARDEN PLANT GUIDE

In addition, PVGC has produced, and routinely updates, a plant identification map and brochure of the Potomac Library gardens. The brochures are free to all and stored in the “brochure box” near the Library entrance. The brochure is also used by school children for our Outdoor Classroom projects.
